Karate girl Robyn Lane is on the hunt for sponsorship to boost her international hopes.

The ten-year-old from St Anne's Road, Canvey, competed in Switzerland at the weekend where she added to her recent haul of medals.

Now Robyn is aiming to take part in a raft of other events around the globe this year.

But her parents Joanne and Robert are keen to hear from potential sponsors willing to support the Silver Dragons Club member.

"Freestyle weapons is her best discipline but it's a struggle to find someone at under-14 level for her to go up against who can push her," explained Robert.

"There is a French girl, a Canadian and an American who she has faced, but she needs to be up against that standard more often if she is going to progress."

Robyn won the under-14 girls weapons class at the Post Tenebras Cup in Geneva on Saturday.

The victory came on the back of five titles at the Combat European Open in Sheffield a fortnight ago and four British honours she won six weeks ago.

Robert said his daughter was aiming to go to the US Open at Disneyworld, Florida, in July, the world championships in October and the French Open in November.

Sponsorship for these has come through Robyn's parents, family and various companies, including Undercover Roofing Supplies of Rochford, who contributed towards the Geneva trip.

But Robert wants to hear from potential sponsors who could help meet the costs of sending Robyn to the BAE Open in Dusseldorf, Germany, in June.

Contact Paul Alton at the Evening Echo on 01268 469399 if you want to sponsor Robyn and your details will be passed on.
