A reward is on offer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of vandals who struck at a memorial playing field.
A large climbing frame at the Welcome Home and Memorial Field, in Mistley, was completely destroyed and has had to be removed.
The New Road field was bought by the people of Manningtree and Mistley to welcome home servicemen to the two parishes after the Second World War and to be a memorial to those who had been killed.
The destruction has so incensed a Mistley resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, he has put up a £500 reward.
Anyone who has any information on the attack is asked to contact PC Mark Talbot at Mistley Police Station, ring 01206 392611 or messages can be left on the station call minder, 01206 395555.
