Rayleigh's Fitzwimarc were as usual the dominant factor when the annual Castle Point and Rochford Schools' Athletic Champ-ionships were staged in miserable cold and wet conditions at Basildon's Gloucester Park.
Fitz won the overall honours on 797 -- more than 200 ahead of runners-up King John, Thundersley, on 585. Cornelius Vermuyden, Canvey, were third on 482.5.

Fitz's winning total for the overall girls was 430.5 from King John 246 and Cornelius 218.
Fitz won the under-13 girls on 80 from King Edmund (53.5) and the under-14 competition on 103.5 from Cornlius (80).
The under-15s went to Fitz on 114 from Greenward 63, And the under-17 win was by Fitz (113) from King John (111).
The overall boys was won by Fitz on 366.5, but they were given a tougher fight here with King John second on 339 and Sweyne Park, Rayleigh, third on 292.5.
Fitz were only able to win one individual boys' age group -- the under-17 on 149.5 from King John (104).
Greensward won the under-13s on 75 -- just three ahead of King John, while Cornelius took the under-14 on 104 from Fitz (88).
King John (109) beat Furtherwick (83) in the under-15 competition.
