Outstanding Southend athlete Mitchell Wilkin has joined Enfield & Haringey as a second claim member so that he can compete in a high level by representing them in the National Junior League Southern Premier Division.
This will allow him to come up against against strong clubs such as Shaftesbury, Barnet and Blackheath and could result in him competing later in the season in the European Champions Club Cup.
Mitchell made a winning debut in the opening fixture at Harrow, when he jumped 6.91m in the last round to snatch victory over his arch rival Richard Blair, who is the current Scottish Junior Champion both indoors and outdoors.
Mitchell will continue to compete for Southend AC in the Southern Men's League and had a winning double in their opening fixture when he won both the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 6.88m and 13.49m respectively.
