Mark Jenkins has quit as manager of Southend Manor.
Manor, the second most senior club in the town after Southend United, enjoyed an outstanding season in the Foresters Essex Senior League and were involved in the fight for the title right until the closing stages.
Jenkins, a well-respected player with a number of top clubs such as Billericay Town, Chelmsford City and Heybridge Swifts during an outstanding career, has been in the Southchurch Park hot-seat for five years.
But now he feels that, with so many changes on the non-league scene currently occurring, now is the time to move on.
"I feel that I've been lucky enough to get a fantastic grounding in the world of management at Manor and for that I'm extremely grateful," he said.
"However, I now feel that I'm ready for a step-up and I'm confident I could do the job at a higher level -- possibly Ryman League."
