A sacked headteacher will be able to devote some serious time to her new job after being made vice-chairman of Basildon Council.
Sandra Hillier, who was head of the £1,700-a-term St John's School in Stock Road, Billericay, is considering suing for unfair dismissal.
Mrs Hillier, who is a Conservative councillor for Langdon Hills on Basildon Council, said: "The dismissal matter is in the hands of solicitors."
