A company director who mucks in by cleaning the toilets and a dynamic fast food boss have been named business man and woman of the year at the Evening Echo's glittering awards night.

Gary Sullivan, of fast-growing Westcliff security and logistics company Wilson James, collected his accolade at the Countywide Business Awards at the Cliffs Pavilion. He celebrated with Gen Isikgun, who runs four branches of McDonald's in the Basildon area and is a major charity fundraiser.
Mr Sullivan said: "I do everything the site manager tells me, including cleaning the loos."
Mrs Isikgun runs four restaurants. A judge commented: "Gen is exceptional in the way she fires up her employees with enthusiasm and creates so many opportunities for them."
