A woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash.
The 51-year-old woman, from Tolleshunt Knights, suffered serious lacerations to her right leg and was flown to Colchester General Hospital.
A white Iveco van, driven by a 51-year-old man from Tilbury, was in collision with a Nissan Terrano driven by the woman on Factory Hill, Tiptree, at 4pm on Friday.
The driver of the van suffered a dislocated knee and cuts and bruises and was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance. A third vehicle, a silver BMW, was also involved, but the driver was not injured and there was no damage to the vehicle.
Both drivers taken to Colchester Hospital are now recovering.
A police spokesman said the van had crossed over to the wrong side of the road, but it was not clear why this had happened.
He appealed for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who saw the accident should contact Colchester traffic police on 01206 762512.
