Brave police officers who tackled a machete-wielding man received plaudits from Essex Chief Constable David Stevens.
PCs Robert Bell and Michelle Harvey, both from Shoebury, and Carl Habbershaw and Paul Sheldrake, both from Leigh were presented with the commendations at police headquarters in Chelmsford.
The officers had gone to a block of flats where a man had barricaded himself in was smashing up his home.
