Basildon Ladies began their pursuit of the County Silver Shield in great style.
Playing at home to Romford they notched up their first win in an exciting game -- taking the match 4-3.
It was a nail-biting finish with two pairs taking their game up the 19th to a very satisfactory conclusion. This competition is played off scratch and was an excellent result for the smaller Basildon club.
It was also good news for the New Town when the A team won the first of their White Webbs matches 3 and 2 against Addington Court.
Once again this was a spirited effort from Basildon on an unfamiliar hilly course with slow greens which took some adjusting to.
Back at home the Millennium Bowl Texas Scramble was claimed by the team of Judy Long, Sue Cable and Yvonne Clow on 67.4 points closely followed by Rita Heywood, Jackie Worthington and Shirley Clayton on 67.6
