A two-week holiday to Lanzarote for Roy and Hazel Jepson to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary turned into a painful nightmare.
After just one day Hazel, 61, tripped over a plinth on a pavement and had to undergo an operation to put pins in her broken arms.
The Basildon couple were flown home and Hazel was taken by ambulance to the town's hospital.
Roy said: "Hazel is still in a great deal of pain and we don't know when she'll be able to leave the hospital.
"The whole holiday has been a complete disaster for us."
