Castle Point staged their handicap championship with a good field battling for the honours and the 36-hole competition proved to be a tough one.
The morning 18 holes produced some good scoring from many players, with the leaders being S Warwick (20 handicap), K Gregory (15) both on nett 69, D Pitt (14) 68, L Haugh (18) 67, but heading the pack was B Patel (18) 65.
As is usual in all-day competitions, the afternoon round proved more difficult in most cases.
The leading scores from the afternoon roundwere returned by T Martin (13), R Bendall (12) and C Stevenson (11) all on nett 68.
Patel could not quite match his morning 65, but with a net 73 in the afternoon and a total of 138, he claimed second place in the competition.
L Haugh held his game and with a net 70 in the afternoon round adding to his 67 of the morning, he lifted the Handicap Championship with his total of 137.
