A man was still in a critical condition today following a three-car crash near Brightlingsea.
The collision took place on the B1029 Brightlingsea Road at 7am yesterday involving a Ford Escort XR3i, a Hyundai Accent and a Vauxhall Cavalier.
The 36-year-old driver of the Escort, who is from Brightlingsea, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Colchester General Hospital. He was still in a critical and life-threatening condition today.
The 41-year-old woman Hyundai driver, who is also from Brightlingsea, was in a serious but stable condition at Colchester General Hospital.
She received leg injuries and the driver and front-seat passenger of the Vauxhall were slightly injured.
Police were appealing for witnesses to come forward to help piece together exactly how the accident happened.
