An Essex group determined to preserve the county's wildlife and habitats is appealing for help.
The Essex Biodiversity Partnership involves 41 organisations - ranging from local councils to the Essex Wildlife Trust - all committed to conservation.
Each contributes funding, expertise and time to ensure that the county's biodiversity action plan is implemented.
Part of the battle is winning the support, interest and aid of local people.
Project officer Mark Iley said: "Biodiversity is our common heritage and Essex Biodiversity partnership wants as many people as possible to become involved and participate in conserving and enjoying it."
He added: "There is a lot to do and to achieve their aims, they need the support and help of everyone in the county."
