A survey is to be carried out in July to prove the need for traffic calming measures in a residential road used as a short cut by motorists.

People living in May Road, Canvey, have continually complained to the borough council about lorries using their street to get to the other side of the island.

Borough secretary John Waugh confirmed a survey was to be conducted by the council to justify the need for funding.

Residents are unhappy with the congestion and want to see traffic calming measures installed to reduce the number of vehicles that use the road.
