Revitalised Martijn Reuser hopes to have secured his future at Ipswich Town.

The midfielder was handed a free transfer earlier in the season after being branded a 'luxury' by boss Joe Royle.

Now, though, he has forced his way back into the first-team reckoning.

And, speaking ahead of Sunday's last game of the season at Derby, the Dutchman told the Evening Gazette: "Hopefully I've shown the manager what I'm capable of.

"When I was told I could leave on a free transfer I was injured and not in the side.

"Now things are different and hopefully that changes my situation, although I'm aware of the financial position at the club."

Reuser, who sealed his comeback with a spectacular long-range goal in the win against Portsmouth, is desperate to stay at Portman Road.

The fans' favourite said: "In theory, this weekend could be my last game for the club but I'm not even thinking along those lines.

"I'm very happy at the moment and 100 per cent committed to Ipswich.

"I don't even want to think about leaving and hopefully I'll still be here next season to help the club get promoted."
