Billericay Town's young fans will present the trophy to their choice as the club's player of the year prior to tomorrow's final Ryman Premier match of the season when relegated basement club Hampton and Richmond come to New Lodge.

But one of the favourites to be named as Town Juniors man of the campaign, goalkeeper Jerome John, could miss the playing action.

John was forced off with a groin injury during last week's Essex derby at Grays and faces a late fitness test. If he fails to make it teenager Mark Fay will deputise.

The choice of star man is not that wide at New Lodge this time round. The two leading scorers, Roy Essandoh and Martin Carthy, were sold to Grays for £10,000 at Christmas.

And, in the closing months, six first team senior men left the club as Billericay cut back drastically on the playing budget.

Not that it has been downhill all the way for Gary Calder's men during the latter part of the season.

They put together a run of three straight wins prior to last week's setback and the manager has earned the admiration of many by fielding sides of immense spirit in such difficult circumstances.
