Viv Dundon has been honoured by the Surrey and Essex County darts teams.

She received a special award for 100 Essex County appearances.

This is quite an achievement as only nine county matches are played each season.

To reach 100 games a player must perform consistently well in Super League to retain the county place.

Dundon works at the local county High School in Clacton and began playing in Thorpe in the late 1970's.

This season she has been captain of Clacton Ladies Super League team who play from Wick Lodge.

She is also a regular mid-week league player for the Highwaymen of Queens Arms.

She has won various titles and cups for both pub teams and Super League over the years.

This month she is playing in the national singles at Hemsby, representing Essex, and hopes to do well for her Clacton ladies team-mates.

Dundon told the Evening Gazette: "I was proud and delighted to receive this award.

"As far as I know, only half a dozen or so other ladies have been given it so it really means a lot to me."
