Police are investigating a drug rape on a young woman who passed out while having a drink in a Basildon nightspot.
The 19-year-old, from the Thurrock area, went to the Ikon nightclub on the Festival Leisure Park in Cranes Farm Road on Sunday night and woke up later at an address in Stratford, east London.
She told police she had had a drink before blacking out. It is thought her drink had been spiked with some form of drug.
Police say the woman then called a male friend whom she knew lived in the city, who collected her and took her to Basildon Hospital where she was treated for injuries. She then contacted police and made the rape allegation.
Insp Dave Miller, of Basildon police, said: "Inquiries are on-going, though we hope to release a description of a man we want to question."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Basildon CID on 01268 532212.
