A group of charity-minded former school pals who clubbed together to help buy bricks for new school buildings have seen their efforts doubled.
The former pupils from Colchester County High School for Girls took part in the school's fundraising buy a brick campaign while they were all still in the same class.
But little did they know the £5 brick they had bought was one of two lucky blocks - and had won them £100.

And so the group decided to donate the cash to their old form charity, East Anglia Children's Hospice. When builder Tendring Construction, which has been working at the school, heard about the donation, it decided to help out too, and gave another £100 to the hospice.
Representatives from the the hospice visited the school yesterday when they met Tendring Construction workers and the former school pupils.
