A conman posing as a postie is being sought by police officers in Thurrock.
Officers are appealing for people who may have been approached by the man who has a dark complexion.
A Grays police spokesman said: "There have been numerous incidents in the Loughton area and there have been some this week in Harlow and Brentwood.
"There has been information received suggesting this may also begin in Thurrock."
He warned: "Please be aware of this and make sure you don't give your details to anybody asking for this sort of information."
The man knocks at people's doors saying he has a damaged parcel and he needs to complete a form. He asks questions about their name, address, phone number and date of birth. Then the man opens a bank or credit card account in their name.
Anyone who believes they have been approached is asked to immediately contact police on 01375 391212.
