Nuclear fuel has been taken out of reactors at Bradwell power station and transported straight to Sellafield for reprocessing - for the first time in the plant's history.
The first train-loads of waste to be removed directly from reactor one left Southminster earlier this month, BNFL bosses have confirmed.
From May, fuel will start to be removed from reactor two and both should be empty by 2005.
