A Dutch lorry parked at the Moto motorway services at West Thurrock was broken into.
It is believed the rear door of the lorry's trailer was opened while it was at the services and nearly 300 children's tops, 57 children's dresses and nine cartons of other garments were taken. They were valued together at around £6,000.
The lorry's driver did not notice the theft until he was continuing his journey to Wrexham and was alerted that the vehicle's rear doors were hanging open.
