Fish and chip lovers in south Essex are celebrating as the their traditional dish knocked curry off the top spot as Britain's number one takeaway choice.
A poll has revealed that the previous top dish - chicken tikka masala - has tumbled to fourth place. Pizza is second, with crispy duck third.
Royal Fish Bar, High Street, Southend, manager, Jackie Fincher said: "All sorts love fish and chips."

Manager of Bartletts Fresh Fry, Eastwood Road North, Leigh, Guy Bartlett, said: "Fish and chips will always be Britain's number one."
Tony Uddin of Gulshan Tandoori, Sutton Road, Southend, said: "Fish and chips? Compared to chicken tikka masala? No contest. Nothing compares to chicken tikka masala."
