A magical garden inspired by the characters in Tolkien's classic novel, Lord of the Rings, has been created at Little Haven Children's Hospice in Thundersley.
The Hobbit Garden has become a reality thanks to developers Countryside Properties and celebrity gardener Kim Wilde.
The garden design was originally awarded an RHS Silver Medal at the BBC Gardener's World Live Show in 2002 and won a further silver medal in the 2002 RHS Show at Tatton Park, Cheshire.
Now it will be weaving its magic for young patients and their families in the grounds of Little Haven Children's Hospice, which takes children from Essex and the outer London boroughs.
David Fountain, Country-side Properties' landscape manager said: "Our garden design was initially inspired by Tolkien's books which are all about fantasy and magic, both of which are especially appreciated by children."
