Southend Swimming Club's George Morris finished the last round of the Essex Countyage group competitions for 2003 with an outstanding swim in the 11-years 200m breaststroke.
Not only did Morris take the gold medal, but he recorded a national qualifying timeand broke the county record previously held by Jonathan Sayer, of the Borough of Southend Club.
Morris also took silver in the 100m breaststroke with a personal best time and fourth in the 200m freestyle.
He also finished second overall in the BAGCAT points forhis age group behind Sam Ward, from Thurrock.
Other Southend swimmers in the finals were: Tom Bicknell (fifth 13yrs 200m breaststroke) and George's sister Holly (sixth 16yrs 100m freestyle).
