Travelling around Europe in a double-decker bus may have been Cliff Richard's ideal summer holiday. But a group of Harwich bus enthusiasts are preparing to ride 1,000 miles on board a 50-year-old bus for charity.
Eastern National KSW Preservation Group plans to drive to the Czech Republic next week to raise money for the country's Flood Relief and breast cancer research.
Pearl Catton, who will be making the journey, said: "We understand how the floods in the Czech Republic must have affected the people there as 50 years ago Harwich was hit by the great floods.
"We want to do our bit to help those who have suffered in similar circumstances."
The Essex bus is First Group's only surviving open-top and is set to star at the European International Old-Timer Bus Rally in the Czech Republic.
Charlie Powell, who heads the preservation group, said it will be used to take the Czech Republic president to the rally's opening ceremony.
