Night-time visitors to Chelmsford town centre on Friday and Saturday will be given an unusual reminder to use their votes in the May 1 local elections.
As part of an experiment by Chelmsford Borough Council and the Meadows shopping centre, a poster image of King Edward VI Grammar School student Raj Dey will be projected on to Cater House from 8pm to midnight.
The projection should be visible from most of the length of the High Street and is part of a "No vote... no voice" campaign being run by the council to encourage people to vote in the local government elections.
If the experiment is a success, the technique could be used to market other events in the county town.
Meanwhile, internet users can be among the first to find out results of the Chelmsford Borough Council elections by checking online. The council's web developer will be based at the main count at Riverside, and will publish the results on the council's website as soon as they are received.
The site is at www.chelmsfordbc.gov.uk/results
The polls close at 9pm and the first result is expected about an hour later.
