A mother today criticised the council for ripping out old play equipment, leaving the site looking "like Baghdad" during the school holiday.
Paula Jarvis, of The Finches, Thundersley, spoke out as Castle Point Council contractors demolished the playground in Common Lane Recreation Ground, Thundersley to replace old equipment.
Mrs Jarvis, 43, said: "They should not be doing it during the holiday. "
