The latest addition to Basildon's Labour Party will not be at the polls next Thursday - because he will be only two weeks old.
Dominic was born on Wednesday to Fryerns Labour candidate Julia Woods, Labour's housing portfolio holder. Mrs Woods does not want to take him to the smoky election night.

But she does not think her newborn baby will affect her work with the council. She said: "I'm not going back to work for a while. I'll have about six months off."
She added: "It wasn't planned for this to happen near election time - but we were lucky it wasn't later. That could have been awkward.
"I am thrilled to bits. He is wonderful."
She plans - provided she is re-elected - to show Dominic off at the next full council meeting. "We will take him to the first full council so everyone can see him, because everyone has been so supportive," she said.
Mrs Woods is standing against William Baker (BNP), Adam Ellis (Green), Kenneth Evens (Con) and John Lutton (Lib Dem).
