A £2 million extension to Maldon's Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon was opened this week.
The ceremony was performed by Maldon MP, John Wittingdale, and although the centre, in Park Drive, officially opened this week it has been up and running since August last year.
The new extension includes a four court sports hall, a group training studio that can hold 40 people, new changing rooms, a creche and meeting room.
A new Harpers gym has been installed offering 60 workout stations and for anyone who overdoes their training a sports injury and beauty clinic has also been added.
The facilities add to the centre's three swimming pools, Jungle River and Plume Ride and Jacuzzi Bubble Lodge.
There is also a fitness suite.
The centre is operated by leisure company, Circa Leisure Plc on behalf of Maldon District Council who own two leisure centres in the district, the other being Dengie Hundred Sports Centre.
The leisure centre extension was funded by grants of £988,600 from Sport England, £800,000 from Leisure Connection Limited and Maldon District Council gave a grant of £250,000.
