Basildon Post Office continue to stamp their authority in the last-ever season of the Southend Wednesday League and are now halfway through what they hope will be a clean sweep of the honours.
Halfway to paradise - Basildon Post Office have now won two of the four top Southend Wednesday League trophies they are hunting after yesterday's Lamkin Cup success. Picture: DAVE HENDERSON
They triumphed 3-1 over Southend Police at Eastwoodbury Lane to add the Lamkin Cup to the league championship they had already captured.
Now, if they can take the League Cup on May 7 and Midweek Charity Cup a week later -- in both finals they take on Old Ship -- they will bring the Wednesday League curtain down with four top trophies.
The league is disbanding at the end of the current campaign after 98 years due to a lack of competing teams.
