Tournament professional Stuart Bingham faces a tough fight in his bid to win the Vic Harris Snooker League singles title.
Basildon-based Bingham, who plays for the Executive Club in Leigh, won through to the final by beating Basildon A's Simon Marlton 3-1 with breaks of 79, 87 and 59.
In the final Bingham takes on defending champion, Wickford A's Chris Pollock, who made the final with a 3-1 success over Starr B's John Peacock.
Bingham will have to give Pollock a 49 start in the best-of-five final which should prove a very even battle on May 12.
Pollock is also in with a chance of glory in the doubles. In the final on May 19 he teams up with Nigel Howe to try and reverse the result of last year's event when they were beaten by the Basildon A duo of Dave Rapp and Wayne Stribling.
