Apologetic leaflets distributed by power company 24seven have been described as "confusing" and "out-of-date" by a county councillor.
Roger Walters, county councillor for Braintree West, even said he is sceptical about the figures stated in the leaflets.
Power supplier 24seven is delivering the leaflets to residents of Great Notley, apologising for the numerous power cuts they have suffered in the past and explaining how improvements will be made, from clearing trees near overhead lines, to installing new equipment in the Braintree sub-station.
But, after reading the leaflet, Mr Walters today said he is not convinced the power trouble will be over.
He said: "The leaflet is very confusing and some things don't even make sense.
"For a start, I am not aware that Great Notley has an overhead power system I am sure it is all underground.
"It doesn't really say anything at all."
The leaflet gives figures for how many people had their electricity cut off and why.
But Mr Walters said: "It is out of date now and I would dispute the figures."
Roger Walters is a Conservative candidate in the elections to Braintree Council on May 1 in the Great Notley and Braintree West ward. Other candidates are Lucy Barlow (Lab), Lesley Beckett (Lib Dem), Peter Braley (Lib Dem), Terrence Brooks (Lib Dem), Graham Butland (Con), Arthur Jenner (Con), Basil Tate (Lab), Anthony Tearle (Lab) and Anthony Watts (Ind)
