Carers across Canvey were celebrating today after they received a richly-deserved financial boost - thanks to a funky jazz cruise.
Members of the island branch of Crossroads organised a boat cruise down the Thames and managed to raise £700.
Crossroads is devoted to caring for carers throughout the borough. Spokeswoman Daphne Hackling said: "The cruise was a sellout and we had an absolutely delightful day.
"The money we raise through events, such as the cruise, enables a trained carer to go in to homes where an individual is ill, often terminally, and relieve the family member who normally has to care for them."
Not content with this success members are gearing up for a trip to the Tower of London in June.
Crossroads will also be holding their annual open garden event in a few weeks. For more information contact Daphne on 01702 556742.
