A woman who stole from her grandmother was today starting a 12-month community rehabilitation order.
Southend Magistrates heard Carleah Day, 22, of Stevens Close, Canvey, admit one count of theft and two counts of obtaining property by deception.
Prosecutor Craig Levine said Jeannette Temple, of Canvey, realised her Barclaycard was missing and found it had been used to buy cigarettes.
Money had been taken with her Lloyds TSB card and Day had pawned a chain and a pair of her earrings.
Mr Levine said £1,330 had been taken using the Lloyds TSB card, £216 with the Barclaycard and £120 from the jewellery.
Paul White, for Day, said she had been unable to work for some time because of amphetamine use and she had a child who was now two.
Day was given a 50-hour community punishment order and a 12-month rehabilitation order.
