A family which has rescued animals for nearly nine years has appealed for the public to rescue them and their own pets.
Four dogs, five cats, 11 chickens and around 30 birds may be put down after the Wickford family, which did not wish to be named, was given notice to quit by their landlord.
The couple and their 11-year-old autistic son had made their bungalow into the Thumpers Rescue Centre specialising in rescuing and rehoming rabbits and birds.
However, over the years they have built up a collection of their own pets which were all rescued.
The 31-year-old owner said: "We got a letter on our doorstep on Saturday from our landlord who wishes to sell our home.
"We only have around 15 rabbits at the moment, which we will be able to home, but it is our own animals which are at risk.
"For once we need rescuing or else they will have to be put to sleep."
The family are desperate for any ideas or anyone who can rent them a two-bedroom home with a large garden.
The family have two border collie dogs and two German shepherds, who have outdoor kennels, as well as the five feral cats, a variety of birds and parrots in five aviaries and 11 chickens in their own purpose-built run and house.
Anyone who can help the family should call 01268 452181.
