Harwich Hospital was open again today after being closed to visitors for more than three days.
The hospital was closed to visitors over the Easter period after an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.
No new admissions were taken into the hospital, in Main Road, Dovercourt, and a public health inspector was called in.
The hospital was closed on Thursday following incidents of diarrhoea and vomiting.
A spokesman for Tendring Primary Care Trust said the hospital had to wait until there was a 24-hour period without any new cases before it could re-admit people.
The inspector then gave the hospital the all-clear yesterday and it has now reopened.
A spokesman for Essex Rivers Healthcare Trust said the outpatients department ran all its clinics as normal, and then closed on Good Friday, the weekend and Easter Monday as usual.
The spokesman said clinics were due to run again today and there had been no staff sickness or problems in the unit.
