Brentwood Academy of Health and Beauty has been voted "Private College of the Year" by Dermalogica, the world's largest skin company.
It is one of the most prestigious awards in the beauty business.
The college, whose former students have gone on to top jobs in five star hotels, cruise ships and leading salons around Britain and abroad opened its doors in 1998.
It has grown so fast it is now the largest private training school in Essex offering beauty and complementary health qualifications.
After doubling its size in the first year of operations, the academy now offers 25 part-time courses and so far has trained more than 1,800 students.
It is run by former City trader Phil Borley and his wife Jacqueline who did her initial training in Hong Kong.
The academy attracts students from all over the UK and abroad. Its most recent student of the year - Alison Carter - came from Australia to train, with the intention of setting up her own business Down Under.
The qualifications of students who graduate are recognised worldwide.
