Bigger and better signs have been put up in Basildon town centre warning drivers they will be clamped if they park on the service roads.

Disabled drivers have been clamped in the area in the last two weeks - much to the embarrassment of the company which runs the town centre.

It was hoping to clear the service roads to allow easier unloading for lorries.

The Town Centre Management Company took a quick delivery of the large signs with big red letters and put them straight up along the service roads.

Motorists with disabilities had parked in the service roads for years when shopping in the town centres and were unaware of the new rules because signs were unclear.
