A woman and her two children had a lucky escape after their car left the road and rolled onto its roof.
Firefighters took half-an-hour to rescue the mother after her children managed to free themselves from the car, in Westbourne Grove, Westcliff.
Sgt Andy Beckett, of Rayleigh road policing unit, said: "The driver and one of the passengers had very minor injuries - cuts and bruises.
"It appears the car, which was travelling in the direction of the seafront, was in collision with a parked car, came off the road and overturned.
"Nobody has been detained in connection with this incident.
"The passenger was taken to hospital."
