COLCHESTER suffered a severe case of the Easter Monday blues as they crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season at home to Luton Town.
U's goalkeeper Richard McKinney endured a nighmare match, gifting the visitors three goals, as Hatters top scorer Steve Howard registered a hat-trick, backed up by a Kevin Nicholls penalty and a first goal in 18 months for Carl Griffiths
It could have been much worse for the U's and Luton's margin of victory could have been much greater had Griffiths not had another goal ruled out for offside
The result ended a run of seven games without a win for the Bedfordshire visitors while the U's suffered their first defeat in eight outings
