Affordable housing across the district has been given a cash boost of £5million of Government funds.
Almost a hundred new homes will be built over the next year after Basildon Council and partner housing associations managed to win the funding.
Five housing associations involved in ten new build schemes across the district will share the money.
Council housing chiefs helped and backed the associations bid for funds earlier this year after an in depth consultation about their plans.
The five associations were Moat Housing, Estuary, the Papworth Trust, Cygnet and NIHHA.
A Basildon Council spokesman, said: 'The siting of the new homes will depend on more in depth discussion and obtaining various planning agreements.
'All the homes will be built under the affordable homes programme which the council is committed to increase across the district.'
Portfolio holder for housing and Wickford North Cllr Tony Ball, added: 'This is excellent news for residents of Basildon and again demonstrates that working in partnership with others achieves result.'
