Plans for a new two storey ICT building at Greensward College in Hockley are set to be given the go ahead despite concerns by the parish council and neighbours.
In a report to Rochford District Council, head of planning Shaun Scrutton said the school did not intend to increase the number of pupils or staff and would purely improve the facilities available for students.
Residents in nearby Graham Close feared their homes would be overlooked and the planned pyramid roof would be out of place among the school's flat roofed buildings.
He said the distance from neighbouring properties was acceptable and the design of the new building would be out of place.
Hockley Parish Council was concerned about the continuing building on the school site. Members said these were causing difficulties of parking, noise and traffic, together with the extension of these problems with night school classes.
