Environmental health officers will keep a close watch on a Southend restaurant that has been branded the worst in Britain.
The BBC TV programme UK's Worst featured Two the Mews in Nelson Mews and it was unanimously voted the country's worst restaurant by a panel of judges.
Ann Holland, Southend Council's executive member for environmental health, said: "Officers will definitely be keeping an eye on the situation at Two the Mews.
"I know that some time ago, visits were made to the restaurant when officers identified some matters which needed attention and this was carried out."
Customers have defended the restaurant but its owners have declined to comment after the show was broadcast.
