Harlow Blackwater Sailing Club's Spring series got off to a flying start, the race officer setting a long course, which led to some excellent beats and long spinnaker legs.
The race started with a brisk wind of Force 4-5, which gradually dropped during the race. However, the winter cobwebs were soon blown away, with a couple of boats capsizing at the start.
The Fireballs dominated the fast handicap fleet, with some very competitive racing and some great luffing matches between David Islin and Don Aers (Fireball) and Terri Sharman and Chris Panting (Fireball), which led to Alan Jackson pushing his way through in his Merlin Rocket for victory on corrected time.
