The Chelmsford branch of Arthritis Care will encourage people to get 'Fit For Life' when they celebrate national Arthritis Care Awareness Week.
The group will be holding an information day in the Meadows, Chelmsford, between 8am and 5pm on April 23, information will be available on how to relieve the disease through exercise.
Richard Pilbrow, Chairman of the Chelmsford branch, said: "There are nine million people with arthritis in the UK, and contrary to belief, it is not just a disease of the elderly.
"Exercise not only helps build up the muscles around damaged joints; it also helps keeps weight down. It gives a sense of well-being which can help with pain control. This in turn helps people become more mobile, which means they can be more in control of their life.
"It can also help end the sense of loneliness and isolation that many people with arthritis feel. If they can join together with other people in some sort of activity, this can lead to friendships with other with mutual interests."
The branch, which meets every second Tuesday of each month at 8pm at the United Reform Church, High Street, Great Baddow, welcomes new members of all ages and interests to join in its branch activities.
