A post office in Colchester has closed suddenly leaving residents in the area high and dry.
Post Office Counters claims the reasons for closing the Winnock Road branch are "commercially sensitive".
The move has left residents in the area without a post office nearby. To collect benefits, they will now have to go to the post office at the top of North Hill or in Long Wyre Street.
A Post Office spokesman confirmed the Winnock Road Post Office had been closed temporarily for "commercially confidential" reasons.
He apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.
The unexpected Winnock Road closure comes just weeks after the decision to shut post office branches in Hythe Hill, East Hill and Bergholt Road.
Town MP Bob Russell was contacted by worried residents about the closure. Mr Russell said: "I am very concerned to hear about the closure of the Winnock Road branch and I am looking for an early re-opening of the post office in this part of Colchester."
