An adventure centre for children under 12 could be on its way to Braintree.
Funtime Hire, an entertainment company based in Finchingfield, has applied for planning permission to create a 10,000 sq foot activity centre in Century Drive, next to Freeport.
Martin Jose, who created the company with his brother Paul, said: "It will be an open plan centre with different activity areas for different age groups and because it will be open plan, it will be vary accessible for disabled children as well.
"We plan to have climbing frames, soft play equipment, laser quest and party rooms. There will be something for the pre-school children, the over fives and up to 12."
Mr Jose, a father himself, said he has seen large activity centres on his travels round the country working at Funtime Hire and there is nothing on the scale he plans in the area.
He said: "There is not enough in Braintree for young children, we are thinking of mums and dads coming in with their children and they can sit down and have a cup of tea and a sandwich.
"It's going to be friendly and affordable but professional."
The site in Century Drive is opposite Kozmic Karts and close to where the new swimming pool will be.
