Ray Thorrowgood snatched victory at Sunday's Lake Meadows Open with a 10lb 8oz 8dr haul.

Ray fished the sluice bank where he started well taking five bream early on. However as the sun grew brighter and the wind picked up he found fish much harder to tempt.

After a blank couple of hours in the middle of the match he started catching again to finish with a dozen bream and skimmers. All of his fish fell to quivertip tactics and double red maggot baits.

Second place went to Eddie Watkins with 9lb 14oz 8dr. Like the winner Eddie fished the sluice bank using a quivertip and red maggot bait. Eddie lost four good bream, but finished with several better specimens amongst his net of skimmers.

A tie for third place saw John Musson and Peter Jerrum both weighing in 9lb 0oz 8dr. Both anglers fished the houses bank where quivertip tactics produced their nets of bream and skimmers.

Peter used sweetcorn baits, whilst John alternated between maggot and sweetcorn to keep his fish interested.

Bream have also been showing at Northlands Park where lake regular Paul Wagg took seventeen bream and skimmers for a haul estimated to weigh well over 20lbs. He fished the middle spitway using a quivertip and luncheon meat baits.
